There’s not too many things nicer than getting out of the shower and passing by a mirror and thinking to yourself, dang you look good.
I think that everyone should experience this, not just in the past, but right now. If you want it, you can get lean.
There are so many benefits of being lean: clothes fit perfectly, you don’t have to watch your diet so closely, you feel comfy in public and at the gym, you can’t wait for the summer and shopping for that bikini, you don’t have to sneak down to the pool late at night when no one is there, cellulite goes away, man boobs disappear, girls look, guys look. People even treat you differently, maybe it’s because you glow from the inside.
How To Get A Lean Body
Getting lean means shedding unwanted and surplus fat.
The first thing that you’ll want to address is your mindset. Getting lean is about making some lifestyle changes. It’s not about calorie counting, it’s about becoming “aware” of what you eat. It’s not about doing tons of exercises that you hate, but about finding workouts that you can enjoy. Getting lean is a way of life.
In order to change your lifestyle you have to announce to your body that you want to change. That it is important to you. You have to get belief power on your side so that you can change old habits and put burning fat on autopilot.
This may seem stupid to you, but have you ever asked yourself, how do lean people stay fit so easily? This is how. I know, I am one of them. I am telling you this from experience.
Next you’ll want to address your diet specifically. To get lean will need to cut back on foods and condiments high in fats, eat a diet high in lean protein, and balanced in carbs.
If ever you hit a plateau cut back on the carbs just a little more (watch that you don’t go into ketosis), make sure that you are aren’t mistakenly eating more foods high in fat than you thought, pick up the intensity of your workouts, and build more lean muscle mass.
Lean protein can come from chicken, turkey, milk, beans and rice, and shakes. These are all great lean protein sources.
Exercising To Get A Lean Body
Intensity. Intensity. Intensity.
That’s is the name of the game for you. The more intense your workouts the more calories you will burn, the more lean muscle you will build, and the more fat you will burn period.
It’s all about calories in versus calories out. And if you want to create that needed calorie deficit to lose weight then you will need to crank up that intensity in your workouts and take less and less rest time as you get in better shape.
Two great high intensity exercises are interval running and weight lifting circuits. With your interval running you will do runs of 20-30 seconds and rest for 1-2 minutes. Keep doing this on and off for 20+ minutes. For your weight circuit you may mix squats, dumbbells bench press, and lat pulls. Do a set to failure, then move to the next exercise. Once finished start over and do it again with no breaks in between sets.
Keep doing this until you’ve done at least 5 sets of each one. Make sure the first set is light weight and that you can do at least 15. On the rest of the sets aim for at least 8. If you don’t get to eight next time you know that you need to lower the weight.
