With the hype and popularity of pilates there are a lot of questions about pilates fat burn like: does pilates burn fat?

I don’t mean to be mean or hurt to anyone’s feelings, but “pilates does not burn fat”. Well let me explain.

Pilates Fat Burn

Anything you do in life burns fat. Sitting in your chair watching TV burns fat. Well, let’s be more clear, it burns calories, and your body takes those calories from fat that has been stored in your body or from food that you have consumed recently. So, the more active your are, or the more energy that your activity calls for the more calories (fat) you will burn.

Pilates doesn’t take that much energy. Yeah, some of the moves are difficult, but that doesn’t mean that it takes a lot of energy to do them.

Is Pilates a good workout?

Yes, it is a good workout, but don’t count on it to burn up a lot of calories, and don’t expect to lose a lot of weight or fat fast either. It will just take more time. Pilates is good for strengthening stabilizer muscles, flexibility, in between recovery workouts, relaxation, and for people who are rehabilitating from injury or elderly. But even for elderly there are far greater workouts for burning fat.

Pilates is of a low intensity and low intensity workouts just don’t burn a lot of fat. That’s where advertiser have lied and tricked consumers. If you have 3 days a week to workout I wouldn’t use pilates at all.

How To Use Pilates In Your Workout Routine

Honestly it depends on your goals. If you’re really trying to burn fat, I wouldn’t use pilates at all really, unless you just love it and don’t want to let it go, then I might use it as a fourth or fifth workout of the week or use it between workout days.

If you want to burn fat, then you need to focus on high intensity workouts that build lean muscle. This is the key to getting rid of fat. I stress this all the time to my Do This To Get Rid Of Cellulite readers. You have to do exercises that burn a lot of calories.

Exercises like interval running, weight lifting circuits, and interval rowing and do them with high intensity. This is how you get rid of cellulite, how you burn fat, how you get lean, thin and sexy. If you do it right, then these types of workouts are shorter, but more effective.
